Seeking Benedict

As I wander around London, I now spend time peering at menus in the windows of cafes and restaurants, in the hope of finding a new venue to try out. Below is a list of places I plan to visit at some point in the next few months.

If you know somewhere that does a good Eggs Benedict, please leave a comment below and I’ll endeavour to add them to my quest.

I have heard the National Portrait Gallery does a cracking Eggs Benedict!

Breads Etcetera in Clapham might be worth a go. Although I suspect if they do it – likely to be bread rather than muffin.

118 have a new menu search facility.

As a benedict connoisseur I recommend Tom's in Notting Hill and High Road Brasserie in chiswick, but you must ring and ask if a chef called Ram is working as his hollandaise is perfect.

Thanks Tom, I'll head over there when I get the chance! I love that part of London :)

Try Out of the Blue on St John's Hill, Clapham Junction

  • Gourmet Chick

I would recommend the eggs benedict at Raoul's (in Notting Hill and Maida Vale) and The Electric in Notting Hill.

Upon sharing your link with a friend I was told:
“My local faves are Willie Gunn's on Garratt Lane and Brew on Northcote Rd”

Out of your radar, but Sakara on the Aigburth Road, Liverpool do splendid Eggs Benedict for £4.95. Their EB was so good I went online looking for EB recommendations and stumbled on your blog.

Maybe you should set up a ‘Benedictionary’ for eateries outside London!

They seem to have taken it off the menu! Gutted.

Will add it to the list, I miss West London and should really make more of an effort to head that way.

Joe’s Kitchen in Borough do great Eggs – big, light muffin and a hollandaise with a bit of tang. Plus the yolks always run!

Seems the best Benedicts we’ve had have been in our on kitchen, in San Francisco, although there are some restaurants here that do a nice job. We have a couple recipes of our ventures. Our latest one is poached in sparkling wine and butter.
    Cheers,

Only a mini gallery but also a restaurant + Bar – seems they do Sunday Lunch too – should organise a gang trip sometime.

Out of the Blue in Clapham, St Johns Hill. Best i’ve found so far.

Had EB at the Pattiserie Valerie in the Strand. It was served on brioche, which is not my favourite thing, but I was hungry so I proceeded. It was a disappointment- the hollandaise was luke warm, but get this- the eggs were not true poached eggs! They were perfect half domes so had been coddled! The bacon was nice and thick, but I was saddened.

I recommend Flavours Cafe in Tufnell Park (10 Campdale Road). They have Eggs Benedict/Royale, both delightful!
Can anyone recommend a good place in Primrose Hill..? Thanks

  • JS

Tuttons in Covent Garden – lovely

  • Ed

    Two great Benedicts:

    Montpellier Chapter in Cheltenham
    and
Hotel Lombardy on Pennsylvania Avenue, Washington DC

  • JSmith

Anyone know of any good eggs benny around Uxbridge? I know it’s a little out there, but it’s still considered London ;)

  • Dan

Can highly recommend Cafe Boheme in Soho, best eggs benedict I’ve had for a while & reasonable price!

  • https://www.questbenedict.com Bef_

Thanks Dan, will add it to the quest. Always useful to know places around Soho!

I use to work out in Uxbridge! Unfortunately I never came across anywhere that did EB, let alone a good one. Let me know if you uncover any!

I went there a few weeks ago – but got turned away! We were there 2 minutes after they stopped serving breakfast. Gutted!

Love your blog! Absolute genius idea as only people who love a good eggs benny know how important it all is!!! (Which excludes my girlfriend who just thinks I’m fussy!)

Nowhere else I can recommend to you at this stage, but will be keeping a look out, as always!
