Giraffe Cafe – South Bank Centre SE1
Giraffe cafes are a chain, offering family friendly environments and world music. This one is on the southbank over looking the river and a stones throw from Waterloo.
It does indeed seem to be a very family friendly place, I assume this by the acre of buggy parking and abundant orange balloons. It entirely depends on your own situation whether this is a good thing or a bad. I amused myself listening to the couple on the next table sniping at each other with terrifying venom while their small child threw crayons at passing customers.
The place was very busy on a sunny Sunday morning, but the staff were prompt and polite and my Eggs Benedict arrived within 10 minutes of ordering.
The Eggs Benedict arrived, smothered in a hollandaise sauce which was very obviously split. My ham, eggs and muffins smeared in a scrambled, eggy, oily mess. I excavated the rest of the plate to find one over cooked egg, one under cooked egg, insipid ham and finally an un-toasted muffin.
A Fairly Comprehensive Disaster.
